Fills and empties large cans during enamel rating

The IS9024 Electrolyte Management System is a semi-automatic system that fills and empties cans, drums and pails with electrolyte during enamel rating. It removes the hand-pouring step that causes most of the spills, and most of the wasted time, on a large-container test.

It is used together with the IS9015 Can Stand. The filling tube holder mounts into the IS9015 arm, and the filling tube, main probe and level probe are refitted into that arm once the holder is secured, so the stand keeps doing the positioning while the IS9024 handles the electrolyte.

Made from specially engineered plastic, the tank and base are built for a factory environment with minimal maintenance. A spillage exit hole in the base routes any overflow to a tray or a hose, and the unit is moved by pushing it on its wheels rather than by lifting the tank.

What does the IS9024 Electrolyte Management System do?

The IS9024 fills the can under test with electrolyte and drains it again during enamel rating, so nobody has to lift or pour a heavy container by hand. It is built for large volumes — cans, drums and pails — and it is used together with the IS9015 Can Stand.

Which can sizes can the IS9024 handle?

The three-speed filling option covers roughly 0.5 litres up to 9 litres and beyond, and the maximum size of test can is 14 litres. Any electrolyte left in the test can afterwards should be returned to the tank.

Does the IS9024 need the IS9015 Can Stand?

Yes. The filling tube holder mounts into the IS9015 arm, and the filling tube, main probe, level probe and banana plugs are then refitted into that arm. Position the IS9015 higher than the IS9024, on a bench at least 75 cm high.

What does semi-automatic filling and emptying mean on the IS9024?

You teach the unit the timing for a given can size: press and hold the speed button until the can is full and release it, then press and hold DRAIN until the can is empty and release it. Double-tapping the same button replays that timing. One value is stored per button and re-programming the same button overwrites it, the setting survives a power cycle, and pressing LOW SPEED and MID SPEED together for three seconds clears the stored times.

Why do the pumps need priming, and how is it done?

Starting from an empty tank, the pumps will not move electrolyte reliably until they have been primed. Put an empty test can on the IS9015, fill the tank with at least 5 litres of electrolyte, then alternate the HIGH SPEED and DRAIN buttons in roughly five-second bursts until the flow runs smoothly.

What power supply does the IS9024 need?

The IS9024 runs on 24 V DC ±10% and draws typically 5 A. An 8 A power supply is recommended and is not supplied with the unit. The operating range is 0–45 °C at 0–90% non-condensing humidity.

How is the IS9024 maintained?

Wipe the base after any electrolyte spillage, and move the unit by pushing it on its wheels rather than lifting it — never lift it by the tank. Do not modify or open the unit: opening it is likely to cause a malfunction and voids the warranty.

What should I check if the IS9024 will not fill or empty a can?

Check that the LED on the control unit is green, that there are at least 5 litres of electrolyte in the tank, and that the pumps are primed. If a pump stays silent when its button is pressed after the tank has been emptied with a hand-held pump, that pump is probably faulty — contact Innosen with your troubleshooting results.
