The IS9029 Light Probe is a battery-powered device used in enamel rating or porosity testing, to clearly see the defective areas of the cans or tubes’ protective coatings.

Note: The IS9029 Light Probe can be used with the IS9017 to illuminate the inside of tubes and easily locate faults during the test.

What is the IS9029 Light Probe used for?

The IS9029 is a battery-powered light probe used during enamel rating (coating porosity testing). It illuminates the inside of a can or tube so the operator can see exactly where the protective coating is defective, making fault locations easy to pinpoint after a test flags porosity.

How does the IS9029 help locate coating faults?

Once an enamel rater detects current flowing through a pore or scratch, the IS9029 is used to light up the interior surface. Bright, even illumination reveals the precise position of pinholes, cracks and bare-metal spots in the lacquer film that are otherwise hard to see inside a dark container.

Can the IS9029 be used with tubes?

Yes. Used together with the IS9017 Tube Stand, the IS9029 illuminates the inside of aluminum collapsible tubes so faults along the tube wall can be located quickly during testing.

What is the IS9029 made of and how is it powered?

It has a titanium probe to resist corrosion, a robust carbon-fibre housing and an electrolyte-splash-resistant body. It is powered by two standard AAA batteries that are easy to replace.
